TOUGH TIMES – PREDATORY EMPLOYERS: Given the fact that Local Union 949 has forty-nine (49) contracts in four states, we are getting a first hand look at the devastation this monumental recession is having on the working class. I am not talking about the loss of paper assets. I am talking about neighbors, friends and families out of work and the latest phenomenon - predatory employers.

Local 949 has had a consistent approach and history with all of your employers. If there is the need, we have never refused to listen and to contribute as necessary – if there’s a legitimate need. However, some of our employers are using the current economic downturn to threaten our hard fought gains because they smell now the time is right to take advantage of the worker.

It is exactly in times like these that we must be willing to stand up and be counted to protect the interests of our families.

Think about it.

While we have always picked our fights carefully, make no mistake; we still know how to fight.
